New Shoes for Back-to-School Ministry

It’s shoe time! We are celebrating our 10th year partnering with other churches to provide new shoes for students in local impoverished communities to start the school year. Please start purchasing shoes, or making donations, to help this great ministry!

DONATION DEADLINE: Sunday, July 17, 2025

Our goal is 200 pairs of shoes this year from Lyndale so please be on the lookout for great deals on tennis shoes! The shoe sizes we need are:

• Kid’s: sizes 10.5+

• Men’s: all sizes up to size 13

• Women’s: all sizes up to size 11

Volunteers will be giving out shoes on Saturday, August 16th at Third Street Bethel AME, 614 N 3rd St, Richmond, VA 23219.

If you'd like to be a volunteer at the event, please call the church at (804) 276-7249 to sign up by Sunday, July 20th and join us!

Shoe donations can be left in the Community Room at the church. If you would prefer for us to do the shopping, please designate your donation to the "Shoe Ministry" campaign: www.lyndalebaptistchurch.org/donate.

If you have any questions, please see Caroline Davidson.

ABOUT THE MINISTRY The "New Shoes for Back-to-School" Ministry was started by the Director of Metropolitan Richmond Partnership of Churches, Rita Willis, in 2006 at Third Street Bethel AME Church. The Ministry provides new shoes to K-12 schoolchildren in underserved communities in the metro Richmond area.

WHAT IS A TITLE 1 SCHOOL? Title I is a federal education program that supports low-income students throughout the nation. Funds are distributed to high poverty schools, as determined by the number of students who qualify for free or reduced lunch.
