Lyndale will once again be one of the local churches partnering in the annual "New Shoes for Back-to-School" Ministry. As we did last year, we are participating in "Plan B - COVID", delivering the shoes directly to local Title 1 schools.
This year, the Ministry had 30 Chesterfield, Henrico and Richmond Title 1 schools request shoes. Lyndale is assigned to the Title 1 schools listed below:
• Fairfield Court Elementary School
• J.B. Fisher Elementary School
• Lucille Brown Middle School
We need at least 150 pairs of shoes to provide a minimum of 50 pairs of shoes to each school. Please remember that we need school appropriate shoes, tennis shoes seem to be the best, with no light ups. The shoe sizes we need are:
• Kid’s: sizes 11+
• Men’s: all sizes up to size 12
• Women’s: all sizes up to size 11
DONATION DEADLINE: Sunday, August 13th
We are collecting shoes and monetary donations through Sunday, August 13th. Shoe donations can be left in the Community Room at the church. If you would prefer for us to do the shopping, please designate your donation to the "Shoe Ministry" campaign:

ABOUT THE MINISTRY The "New Shoes for Back-to-School" Ministry was started by the Director of Metropolitan Richmond Partnership of Churches, Rita Willis, in 2006 at Third Street Bethel AME Church. The Ministry provides new shoes to K-12 schoolchildren in underserved communities in the metro Richmond area.
WHAT IS A TITLE 1 SCHOOL? Title I is a federal education program that supports low-income students throughout the nation. Funds are distributed to high poverty schools, as determined by the number of students who qualify for free or reduced lunch.
